I have an on-again off-again love of pinhole photography. I’ve been making pinhole cameras since I was first exposed to their creative power by photo educator Peggy Jones, who certainly has taken the format to new heights.
Unfortunately, the off-again part of pinhole photography is that I’m rarely satisfied with the end result. I like the spontaneity, the randomness, the chance-when it works. Unfortunately, it seems few and far between to create a truly awesome photography using just a tiny hole.
What do you think? Do you have success with pinhole photography? Do you make custom camera explicit for the purpose? Peggy Jones would craft cameras conceptually linked to the photography she intended to make, and then display both the camera and the resultant image together. Do you do this as well?
We’d love to display a gallery of pinhole images here on StartPhoto. If you’d like to exhibit in this upcoming gallery, please let us know.
