StartPhoto is the Online Photography School and community of photographers, artists, students and educators, and collectors. Image makers of all types and experience are welcome here; landscape photographers, people who pinhole, collage cognoscenti, alternative process printers, view camera fanatics, and everyone else that wants to exhibit their photos and receive constructive feedback.

Just like real art school, the best part of this online photography school is the dialogue, the feedback, the critiques… the interaction with other image makers. While this website is no substitute for the art school experience, hopefully you and others like you will benefit from StartPhoto.

This Spring, StartPhoto.com is relaunching with a new look and editorial direction. We’re now accepting submissions from artists and writers to be included in our new editorial format.

Art submissions:
We welcome submissions of all photographic-based artwork, including digital imagery and collage.

//Submission guidelines:
Please submit via e-mail 1-10 images in high quality .jpg format, with a minimum dimension of 1000×1000px. Please do not watermark, but do give instruction of what text you’d like each image to be marked with (we have a standard marking practice). If you are selected, you will be contacted to provide more information about the work.

Writing submissions:
Writing submissions on photography-based topics are always welcomed. We have particular interest in articles about: digital imaging, the artistic process, art school, masters of photography (surveys of their work, editorial, etc), and other topics of interest to the all photographers, from the photo student to the professional.

No exclusive rights are required, and a permanent writing credit and linkback is offered to every published writing and image contribution.
